About dePhaser

In the late 2005 Andreas and Hans met at the university in Lund where they were both studying. Knowing about each others musical past, the first plans for forming a new band was made. Johan and Andreas had been playing together before and knew each other since long ago, and Hans and Daniel had played together for a long time in their former band “desh”. Given that Johan and Hans actually also knew each other well from earlier studies, may make it seem as a matter of course to form the new band, but it was actually not before Hans and Andreas meet at university that the idea was born. All four; Andreas, Johan, Hans and Daniel, were by then starving musicians without a band. The actual decision to form start the band was made on top of Sweden’s tallest building, turning torso, when Hans and Andreas made a field trip with university. The two “missing members” Johan and Daniel was not hesitant to join up with the band. For about 1.5 year they were writing and rehearsing with Andreas and Hans alternating as the bands lead singers. Even though some good material were produced and some good gigs were played, there were clearly something missing in the band. Being not fully satisfied with their line-up they soon recruited Markus as their new lead singer. Markus had a solid musical background from singing in his former band Brasco – and soon proved himself to be a great vocalist as well as lyricist, and mayor contributing songwriter. dePhaser made their first solid recording in late 2008 at martim soundconsult studios in Fredericia, Denmark. The two songs “It’s Over Now” and “Forgotten Words” where recorded with Tim H. Andreasen as recording engineer/technician, whose contribution should not be underestimated. Given the good results from this session, it was a given for dePhaser to return for another session in May 2009, to record the two songs “Don’t You Say” and “Say You Lose”. During this period, late 2008 – today, the band started to promote them selves on the web: First via the common channels; myspace, facebook and larger indie music websites, and finally with their own website in August -09. The band has also performed at several gigs during this time, mostly private parties. Hopefully the more active web promotion will give dePhaser a better chance at perform at more public venues in the future!
